Atomic Auto Works Garage: Our History
Founded in 1990, as Autographics & Restyling we began as an automotive detailing shop offering custom vehicle lettering and graphics. Early on, we expanded our services to include minor body repairs and fiberglass work. As young entrepreneurs in the automotive industry, we recognized an opportunity in offering niche wholesale services to body shops, garages, and dealerships. By focusing on tasks others didn’t want to do—like wet sanding, buffing, and fiberglass repair—we carved out a unique space in the wholesale market.
As we continued to build relationships with body shops and dealerships, our passion for customizing vehicles took center stage. This work earned us features in magazines, TV shows, and music videos, solidifying our reputation as a custom vehicle specialist. While much of our customization business remained wholesale to dealers and builders, we also began designing and manufacturing our own parts for shops and businesses. These included products like motorcycle seats, car seats, and body parts, helping us streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
However, when the U.S. economy took a sudden downturn, many of our wholesale partners went out of business almost overnight. Forced to adapt, we transitioned to a retail-focused model, producing our own products and offering services directly to consumers.
Over time, we noticed a troubling decline in the number of skilled technicians in the automotive industry. Recognizing the need to preserve and pass on these valuable skills, we decided to create a community where automotive enthusiasts and professionals could come together to learn, share, and grow. This vision led to the birth of Atomic Auto Works Garage, a place dedicated to celebrating automotive craftsmanship and fostering a vibrant, knowledgeable community.
